Blue healer puppies are too tired to walk after playing?

I’ve hooked up a sprinkler in my backyard and I let my blue healers go outside and play. They’re kenneled most of the day and it’s a great way to exercise them because they love jumping for the water. After about 10 minutes or so, they literally can’t walk… and just lay there. I also have a small wading pool and they collapse into it and don’t move for about 5 minutes, then finally get up and start walking around.

My husband says I’m working them too hard, and hurting them. But, their tales are wagging the entire time and they seem happy to be jumping for the water spurts.
They have been incredibly destructive, which is why I kennel them. Now that they are almost 2 years old, they’ve calmed down a bit and I’m trying to get them to be part of our daily lives outside of the kennels. The first place to start is to give them a good work out when they come out of the kennel. Afterwards, they listen to me, they’re not full of energy and we’re all happy.
Am I hurting them?

Dogs, especially that breed, will play until they are too tired to stand! It’s not a bad thing, unless it’s getting too hot outside and causing heat stroke, but if it’s not too hot outside they should be just fine, i don’t think you’re hurting them.

You’re not hurting them. I had a red healer who loved frisbees and if I didn’t run him til he dropped he would bug me incessantly. It only takes about a half gallon of water and 10 minutes of rest before he is a peaceful, lovable, well mannered dog again. These dogs are made to work hard and fast.
